Arizona Immigration Law

Arizona has decided that enough is enough, and has signed into law a bill which give police officers the authority to ask people for proof of citizenship, if they have reason to believe the are here illegally. I would have thought that police already had the authority to do this, as it is there job to enforce the federal, state, and local laws already. And, if someone is here ILLEGALLY, obviously, they have already broken the law.

The opposition to this law, say that this will open the door to racial profiling. I do not see how this is the case. There are illegals here from many, many countries, yet the opposition is constantly talking about the Mexicans and Latinos. Aren't they then the ones who are racially profiling? While I agree, the majority of illegal immigrants that one is likely to run across in Arizona are probably going to be Mexican, as Arizona shares a border with Mexico, I don't think that all of the illegal immigrants in Arizona are Hispanic.

Now there is talk of boycotting Arizona and imposing economic sanctions against a state that is trying to protect itself from the human trafficking and drug trafficking that is going on across their border. I for one plan to buy as much as I can from Arizona to show my approval of a state that is willing to stand up for itself. The Federal Government hasn't' fixed the border issue, so let the states have a crack at it. Send the illegals home, and let them apply to come to the USA legally. And not only that, I think we should impose prison time on anyone that knowingly hires illegal aliens, as they only perpetuate the problem.
